Cuba remains the only economy (outside the region of East Asia), where communism survived the fall of the Soviet bloc, withstood a deep economic crisis and leaned against the vast changes in Eastern Europe. Although today the island remains faithful to socialist ideas and its leaders stipulate that they do not intend to change the system of the country, as analysts predict the difficult economic situation of the island will soon induce them to the decision to conduct deeper changes. The interesting case of Cuba, which it seems, is on the doorstep of entry into a new stage of history, inspires a more indepth analysis. Presenting the most important results of the analysis of the current macroeconomic situation of the island and institutional realities, the article presents possible scenarios that may soon be reflected in the reality of Cuba.

Kuba pozostała jedyną gospodarką (poza regionem Wschodniej Azji), gdzie komunizm przeżył upadek bloku sowieckiego, wytrzymał głęboki kryzys ekonomiczny i oparł się rozległym przemianom w Europie Wschodniej. Mimo że obecnie wyspa pozostaje wierna socjalistycznym ideom, a jej przywódcy zastrzegają, iż nie zamierzają zmieniać systemu kraju, to, jak przewidują analitycy, niedługo trudna sytuacja ekonomiczna wyspy skłoni ich do decyzji o przeprowadzeniu głębszych zmian. Ciekawy przypadek Kuby, która, jak się wydaje, znajduje się na progu wejścia w nowy etap historii, skłania do głębszej analizy. Prezentując najważniejsze wyniki analizy obecnej sytuacji makroekonomicznej wyspy oraz instytucjonalnych realiów, przedstawiono możliwe scenariusze, które w niedługim czasie mogą być realizowane na Kubie.
