The objective of the paper is to define fundamental trends of the development of foreign direct investment conducted by sovereign wealth funds and to evaluate the role of those funds in global flows of foreign direct investments in the course of 2000–2012. The conducted analysis demonstrates that in the analysed period an unprecedented rise in the number and value of SWF’s assets as well as SWF’s activity occurred in the global market of foreign direct investment. Despite the rapid growth of value of SWF’s FDI, their share in global FDI was low, and the directions of geographic and sector allocation, the structure of SWF’s FDI did not differ from the trends of global FDI flows.
Rola państwowych funduszy majątkowych w globalnych przepływach zagranicznych inwestycji bezpośrednich
Podjęto próbę określenia podstawowych tendencji rozwoju zagranicznych inwestycji bezpośrednich dokonywanych przez państwowe fundusze majątkowe i oceny roli tych funduszy w światowych przepływach zagranicznych inwestycji bezpośrednich w latach 2000–2012. Z przeprowadzonej analizy wynika, że w badanym okresie nastąpił bezprecedensowy wzrost liczby i wartości aktywów oraz aktywności PFM na światowym rynku zagranicznych inwestycji bezpośrednich. Mimo gwałtownego wzrostu wartości ZIB PFM, ich udział w światowych ZIB kształtował się na niskim poziomie, a pod względem kierunków lokalizacji geograficznej i sektorowej struktura ZIB PFM nie odbiegała od trendów charakteryzujących ich globalne przepływy.
