Communication management today is an accepted part of project management. The modern telecommuni ca tion and information technology is available to support this communication challenge. As the communications part of a project, normally, does not take the centre stage during the project planning, the communication structures emerge over time in an unplanned, non-systematic way. As a result of this situation, a project manager constantly has to analyse, evaluate, and change the communication structures of the project. Thus, a continuous improvement of the project communication is a challenge to the project management. In this paper, action research (AR) is used as basis research methodology to uncover and to solve communication problems in the EU project “BalticMuseums 2.0”. For the evaluating phase of the AR cycle, an evaluation framework – based on the standard “Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) Guide” – is developed for the use of information technology. Both, the AR method and the evaluation framework, turned out to be applicable in the exemplary project.

Zarządzanie komunikacją to obecnie istotny element zarządzania projektem, które można udoskonalić dzięki wykorzystaniu technologii informacyjnych i komunikacyjnych. Rozpoczynając projekt, z reguły nie kładzie się dużego nacisku na planowanie komunikacji, dlatego struktury komunikacji projektu powstają podczas trwania projektu w sposób często niezaplanowany i niesystematyczny. Efektywne zarządzanie projektem wiąże się zatem z ciągłą analizą, oceną i dopasowywaniem struktur komunikacji projektu. Metodę action research (AR) zastosowano w projekcie unijnym „Baltic Museums 2.0” do zidentyfikowania i ostatecznego rozwiązania problemów komunikacji. W ramach cyklu action research stworzono framework oparty na standardzie zarządzania projektami PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide), który pozwala ocenić zastosowanie technologii informacyjnych. Wykazano, że w projekcie można skutecznie wykorzystać zarówno metodę action research, jak i moduł oceniający framework.
