THE INFORMATION LAYER OF COMMERCIAL SPACE – INTELLIGENCE OF SPACE VERSUSU IMAGE OF THE CITY

Summary

The paper discusses the impact of information technology on city space on many levels. It starts with a brief presentation of characteristics of a smart city and it considers them in the context of commercial spaces. In the following part it takes into account the „hidden” intelligence of space that supports many processes in the city. There will also be discussed the scope of emission of information in commercial spaces. However, the most important issue is the visible intelligence of space that transforms an urban image. There will be presented some innovative solutions form technologies used in publicity, which can be introduced into architectural surroundings. The information layer of the commercial spaces will be illustrated by some realized solutions integrating information and lighting technologies in the city space. It includes temporary events and fix architectural structures which are modifi ed by multimedia visual effects. The aim of this paper is to emphasize that apart from many technical aspects, a smart city should provide high quality architectural surroundings to its users, which is also a form of promotion of a cities and can bring them profits.
