Streszczenie
Głównym celem artykułu jest próba analizy i oceny miejsca Polski w wybranych światowych rankingach dotyczących gospodarki i finansów. Jest to szczególnie trudne z metodologicznego punktu widzenia. Chodzi o metodę pomiaru oraz mierniki pozycji kraju w finansach światowych. W pierwszej części zaprezentowano główne dylematy sformułowane przez autorów Raportu Komisji ds. Pomiaru Wydajności Ekonomicznej i Postępu Społecznego, w drugiej ukazano pozycję Polski w wybranych rankingach, natomiast w ostatniej przeprowadzono analizę i ocenę sektora bankowego w Polsce z różnych punktów widzenia.

POLAND IN THE INTERNATIONAL RANKINGS – DILEMMAS OF MEASUREMENT
Summary
The main purpose of the paper is an attempt to analyze and evaluate Poland’s position in the contemporary global finances. It is especially very difficult from the methodological point of view. The key issue is a measurement method and the measures of a country’s position . The first part presents the main dilemmas formulated by the authors of the Report by the Commission on the Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress . In the second part the authors try to present the position of Poland in the selected rankings. The last part of the study refers to the analysis and evaluation of banking sector development in Poland from different perspectives.
