Streszczenie
W artykule przedstawiono argumenty przemawiające za inwestowaniem w zdrowie poparte m.in. wydłużającą się długością trwania życia. Dają one trwałe podstawy do dalszego rozwoju podmiotów działających na rynku usług medycznych. Pomimo pewnej specyfiki tego rynku, opisanej w artykule w sposób ogólny, są poddawane ocenie tak jak każda jednostka prowadząca działalność gospodarczą. W części empirycznej dokonano oceny funkcjonowania czterech placówek medycznych za pomocą wybranych i najbardziej typowych mierników analizy wskaźnikowej. Działają one na terenie jednego województwa. Jedna funkcjonuje jako niepubliczny
zakład, a trzy jako różne publiczne zakłady opieki zdrowotnej.

RATIO ANALYSIS OF SELECTED HEALTH CARE INSTITUTIONS
Summary
The article presents arguments for investing in health which is relevant due to, among other things, increasing life expectancy. These arguments provide a solid basis for further development of institutions operating on the market of medical services. Despite the specificity of this market, referred to in the paper in a very general way, the aforementioned institutions will be subject to assessment just as any other business entity. The empirical part of the article assesses the functioning of four health care institutionsusing selected and most typical instruments adopted as part of ratio analysis. The institutions under consideration operate in one and the same voivodship. One is a non-public health care institution, whereas the remaining three are public institutions.
